We are currently seeking a talented and innovative Senior Scientist, Biology to join our team in Lincoln, MA, (the Boston/Cambridge area). The ideal candidate will work closely with Pharma and Biotech teams to provide biological expertise for the development of mathematical models that help drive decisions in drug development. Models include pathways (intra- and cell-cell signaling), disease (description and mechanistic), quantitative systems pharmacology, mechanistic PKPD, and traditional PKPD preclinical and clinical modeling of small and large molecules and novel therapeutics.
• Provide biological expertise for ABM-internal and customer projects.
• Review published and ABM customer data to understand disease biology, drug properties, mechanism of action, pharmacology, toxicology and clinical data
• Assess technical quality and utility of data sets to support the modeling strategy and pro-actively identify data sets to inform the model diagram, calibration and benchmarking
• Generate project bibliographies and parameter tables in collaboration with modelers and other team members
• Demonstrate clear understanding of client's goals and work effectively toward achieving them
• Participate as representative on multiple internal and customer project teams and contribute to defining expertise-related aspects of overall program goals
• Stay abreast of key developments in disease biology, molecular/cell biology techniques and in drug discovery and development
• Keeps abreast of relevant literature, modeling approaches and software and serves as resource in area of specialized expertise
• PhD or equivalent in biology, biochemistry or related field
• Postdoctoral and biotech/pharma industry experience highly desired
• At least 3 years of laboratory experience with biophysical biochemical, molecular and cell biological methods
• Experience in neuroscience, immunology or cancer biology is highly desired
• Knowledge of signal transduction, preclinical or clinical pharmacology and experience with any type of mathematical modeling or systems biology is a plus
• Experience with animal models of disease is a plus
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, experience working with multi-disciplinary teams
• Record of scientific achievement through peer-reviewed publications, invited oral presentations, or patents
